Greenberg Traurig’s Henry Greenberg Sworn in as President of the New York State Bar Association

Appoints Diverse Leaders to All 59 NYSBA Committees

ALBANY – June  7, 2019 – Henry M. Greenberg, a shareholder in the Albany office of  global law firm Greenberg Traurig, LLP, was sworn in by Janet DiFiore, chief judge of the Court of Appeals and the state of New York, as the president of the New York State Bar Association (NYSBA) on Thursday, June 6. Founded in 1876, the NYSBA is the largest voluntary state bar association in the United States.

Greenberg assumed the role on June 1; within days he set in motion a new diversity initiative for the NYSBA and appointed diverse leaders to all 59 of its committees.

“It is a moral imperative that our profession better reflects the diversity exemplified by our clients, and we can no longer accept empty rhetoric or half-measures to realize that goal,” Greenberg said. “It’s the right thing to do, it’s the smart thing to do, and clients are demanding it.”

“Hank has a clear vision for the initiatives he has laid out as president of the New York State Bar Association,” said Harold N. Iselin, managing shareholder of Greenberg Traurig’s Albany office and co-chair of its Government Law & Policy Practice. “I am confident in his skills and determination to create a more diverse profession and grow the NYSBA in an inclusive and empowering manner.” Iselin delivered remarks about his Albany colleague during the swearing-in ceremony.
