MIAMI – May 11, 2020 – Barry L. Rothberg, a shareholder in the Miami office of global law firm Greenberg Traurig, P.A., has been appointed by Florida Governor Ron DeSantis to the Third District Court of Appeal Judicial Nominating Commission (JNC) for a term ending July 1, 2022.
Judicial Nominating Commissions select nominees to fill judicial vacancies within the Florida court system. Eligible applicants interview with the JNC, which then determines by majority vote which applicants to recommend to the Governor for consideration, according to the Governor’s JNC information website.
“I am honored to have been appointed by Governor DeSantis to the Third District Court of Appeal Judicial Nominating Commission,” Rothberg said. “Nominating commissions play a crucial role in Florida’s judicial process and it will be a privilege to collaborate with my fellow commission members to provide the Governor with the best candidates for consideration.”
Rothberg is a member of Greenberg Traurig’s Litigation Practice. The majority of his cases involve real estate litigation, including commercial landlord/tenant disputes, condominium rescission cases and canceled condominium projects, disputes over purchase and sale agreements, foreclosures and consumer finance cases, zoning litigation, and broker commission claims. He also handles a broad array of commercial litigation in state and federal courts, and has wide-ranging experience arbitrating under American Arbitration Association rules. Additionally, he has litigated international contract claims before the Arbitration Institute of the Stockholm Chamber of Commerce.
