Greenberg Traurig’s Antonio Peña Launches United States – Mexico Chamber of Commerce, Inter-American Chapter “Together We Advance” Initiative

MIAMI – June 29, 2020 – Greenberg Traurig Miami Shareholder Antonio Peña, created and hosted the launch of a new diversity and inclusion initiative by the United States - Mexico Chamber of Commerce, Inter-American Chapter, which was held on June 19 via a virtual reception.

The United States - Mexico Chamber of Commerce, Inter-American Chapter’s (USMCOC-IA) Together We Advance initiative aims to promote diversity and inclusion of members and partners within the U.S. and Latin America business community through networking, professional development, mentorship, and community engagement.

“In my service as president of the United States – Mexico Chamber of Commerce, I have seen that there is a tremendous need in business and our community for our members and allies to help ensure that the U.S. – Latin America business community is a welcoming place for all professionals,” said Peña, president of the Inter-American Chapter, United States – Mexico Chamber of Commerce. “This initiative represents my efforts to extend Greenberg Traurig’s long history of commitment to diversity and inclusion to this community in the most meaningful way.”

Peña welcomed guests and delivered the opening remarks at the virtual event. Other speakers included Jonathan Chait Auerbach, consul general of Mexico in Miami; Kristien Turner, president of Together We Advance; and Kevin Huntting, vice president & strategic head of the Together We Advance Committee. The event’s keynote speaker was Elizabeth F. Schwartz, founder of Miami law firm, Elizabeth Schwartz, P.A., and a recognized national advocate for the legal rights of the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ) community. Schwartz was a key litigator in the Florida Supreme Court decision that legalized same sex marriage.
