Nikki Lewis Simon to Speak at USC Gould School of Law’s Institute for Corporate Counsel

LOS ANGELES – Nov. 30, 2021Nikki Lewis Simon, Miami office shareholder and chief diversity, equity, and inclusion (DE&I) officer of global law firm Greenberg Traurig, P.A., will moderate a panel at this year’s virtual University of Southern California (USC) Gould School of Law 40th Annual Institute for Corporate Counsel (ICC). Barbara A. Jones, Los Angeles office co-managing shareholder and member of the firm’s Corporate Practice, is on the ICC Board of Governors, and Greenberg Traurig is a platinum sponsor.

Simon’s panel, titled “Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging: How Lawyers and the Legal Profession Answer the Call to Action,” will discuss “how lawyers can assist in making our communities and the legal profession better by focusing their legal work on supporting organizations that advance equal rights causes and pursuing policies that promote equity, inclusion and belonging,” according to the event’s website. Speakers include Robin M. Hulshizer, partner and vice-chair of the Diversity Leadership Committee at Latham & Watkins LLP and Jennifer Lagunas, vice president of corporate legal, governance, operations and assistant corporate secretary at AbbVie Inc.

The ICC is a collaboration of the USC Gould School of Law and the Los Angeles County Bar Association Business Law Section. The annual event gathers in-house and outside counsel to compare notes, keep abreast of key legal developments, and network with colleagues.

Simon, a commercial litigator with more than 21 years of experience, primarily serves as the firm’s chief diversity, equity, and inclusion officer. In this capacity, she designs and guides strategic initiatives and programs to deepen firmwide diversity and inclusion efforts that further enrich client engagements and community investments.
