Kara Bombach to Speak at Ensuring Compliance with U.S. and China Economic Sanctions Conference

WASHINGTON– Sept. 16, 2021 – Kara M. Bombach, an International Trade & Customs Practice shareholder in global law firm Greenberg Traurig, LLP’s Washington office, will speak at the American Conference Institute (ACI)’s Ensuring Compliance with U.S. and China Economic Sanctions Conference on a panel titled “The Art of Performing Effective Sanctions Screening on Chinese Persons and Entities” on Sept. 21 at 12:00 p.m. EDT.

Bombach focuses her practice on assisting companies and organizations lawfully export goods, technology, and services around the globe. She places emphasis on helping clients achieve practical, workable solutions to complex regulatory situations arising under anti-corruption and anti-bribery measures (U.S. Foreign Corrupt Practices Act and Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development Convention), export control laws (Export Administration Regulations and International Traffic In Arms), anti-boycott laws, and special sanctions (embargoes) maintained by the U.S. government (Office of Foreign Assets Control and other agencies) against various countries (including Iran, Cuba, and Russia), entities, and individuals. In cases of foreign investment in the United States, Bombach advises on the Exon-Florio provisions relating to U.S. national security concerns. She represents companies before the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States (CFIUS), and assists clients in mitigating foreign ownership, control or influence (FOCI) as may be required by Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States, or U.S. national industrial security regulations.
