Samantha Ferrin Appointed to Alzheimer’s Disease Advisory Committee

TALLAHASSEE – June 27, 2022 – Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis has appointed Samantha Ferrin, a director in Greenberg Traurig’s Tallahassee office, to the Alzheimer’s Disease Advisory Committee (ADAC).

Established by the state Legislature in 1986, this advisory committee evaluates and makes recommendations on a wide range of issues that impact people living with Alzheimer’s disease and their families in Florida, including public safety, educational and training needs, support services, financial resources, research, ethical and legal concerns, and legislative matters. The committee is made up of 15 members: 11 appointed by the Governor, two by the Speaker of the Senate, and two by the Speaker of the House of Representatives.

Ferrin is one of two new gubernatorial appointees to the committee this year, along with Matthew Eaton, vice president of communications for the Alzheimer’s Association.

As a director in the firm’s Florida Government Law & Policy Practice, Ferrin helps clients navigate the executive and legislative branches of government. She focuses her practice on state procurements, executive and legislative branch lobbying, public policy advocacy, and the appropriations process. Before joining the firm in January 2021, she was part of the senior leadership for the Florida Lottery, serving as interim secretary, chief of staff, and deputy chief of staff. Her prior government experience also includes providing strategic political and legislative advice to two attorneys general, two house speakers, and two governors.

Active in her community, Ferrin is a member of the Junior League of Tallahassee and immediate past chair of the State Public Affairs Committee for the Junior Leagues of Florida, an advocacy arm dedicated to addressing issues of political importance to women, children, and families.
