Sarah J. Fashena, Ph.D. is a Registered U.S. Patent Agent in Greenberg Traurig’s New Jersey office. Sarah has over 15 years of experience in intellectual property law focused on the life sciences. Sarah prepares and prosecutes new patent applications in biotechnology and pharmaceuticals and instructs clients in general intellectual property matters, particularly in the areas of the microbiome, inflammation, autoimmunity, immunology, molecular biology, neurobiology, signal transduction, gene therapy, bacteriology, vaccines, oncology, recombinant DNA, biochemistry, genome platforms, genetic disease signatures, and precision medicine. Sarah provides guidance to clients at universities, as well as biotechnology and biopharmaceutical companies with respect to patentability assessments of new invention disclosures.

Sarah received her Ph.D. from Yale University and her doctoral thesis related to molecular immunology and inflammatory cytokine gene regulation. Upon receiving her Ph.D., Sarah did a post-doctoral fellowship at Caltech where her research focused on molecular neurodevelopment and intracellular signaling. Sarah then accepted a senior post-doctoral position at the Fox Chase Cancer Center to focus on research in intracellular signaling in the context of cellular transformation.
