Jillian C. Kirn


Jillian C. Kirn focuses her practice on environmental and energy matters. She represents clients in litigation in state and federal courts and works on behalf of developers and corporations in connection with the acquisition, transfer, financing, and sale of contaminated real estate, including complex project redevelopments and environmental liability transfers. Jillian assists clients, domestically and internationally, with the development of alternative energy projects and policy.

Prior to joining the firm, Jillian handled air, waste, and toxics enforcement matters in the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s Office of Regional Counsel in Seattle, Washington.



  • Served as counsel for various industrial clients in natural resources damages and contaminated sediment remediation matters.
  • Represented industrial clients in wastewater, solid waste and air permitting matters; administrative appeals; and enforcement actions.
  • Advised clients in matters involving environmental aspects of land use, such as wetlands regulation, erosion control, and brownfields.
  • Represented a NJ power plant in a unanimous decision upholding its NJPDES permit.
  • Assistant independent monitor under an EPA debarment agreement with a major energy producer.
  • Honors Attorney Fellow, U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, Region 10, 2011-2012
