Aaron J. Lockwood is an experienced civil litigator at the trial and appellate-court levels whose work on behalf of clients has involved a variety of complex matters in state, federal, and arbitral forums around the country, including contract disputes, consumer-protection claims, and various business torts. He routinely represents and advises insurers in matters relating to complex coverage, claim handling, and alleged insurer bad faith, as well as in other high-stakes business disputes. He regularly defends insurers against contractual, extra-contractual, and punitive-damages claims involving a wide range of insurance products, including property-and-casualty, professional-liability, and builders-risk coverages. Aaron also represents managed care organizations in virtually all aspects of health-benefits litigation, including disputes with participating and non-participating hospitals and other large healthcare providers.

Experience
- On trial team obtaining directed verdict in Illinois federal court for large medical professional liability insurer on breach-of-contract and bad-faith claims seeking over $10 million in alleged compensatory and punitive damages, later affirmed by the Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals.°
- Represented a Fortune 500 managed care company in multimillion-dollar payor-provider disputes in confidential arbitrations across the country.°
- Secured dismissal of unjust-enrichment and tort claims under Nevada law against a health insurer asserted by an out-of-network hospital system claiming more than $30 million in alleged underpayments.°
- Prevailed on summary judgment on key issues of causation under Utah law in a builders' risk coverage and bad faith case involving an iron ore plant where the insured had alleged over $200 million in physical damages and delay-in-completion loss.°
- Defended a national insurer against bad faith claims arising from its handling of claims under Arizona's workers' compensation system.°
- Represented Guatemalan and Mexican juveniles who fled from abuse or neglect to obtain lawful permanent residence in the United States, including appearing in administrative proceedings before the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, and in Immigration Court.°
- Worked to obtain coverage for transition-related care for transgender youth under Arizona's Medicaid program.°
