Ann Motl leverages her mechanical engineering background and federal law clerkship in her products liability practice, concentrating on the defense of complex medical devices. Prior to joining Greenberg Traurig, Ann worked at a national law firm focusing exclusively on patent litigation as well as a midsize firm counseling clients on intellectual property litigation and product liability claims. She is a registered patent attorney with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office and has represented clients across a variety of technical areas including medical device, automotive engineering, and oil and gas.

Ann is committed to advancing the profession through leadership and pro bono service. She is involved in the Minnesota Chapter of the Federal Bar Association where she serves as a director. She has represented pro bono clients in Social Security disability appeals, housing and habeas matters while working with the Minnesota Chapter's Pro Se Project, the Volunteer Lawyers Network and Mid-Minnesota Legal Aid.

  • Represented medical device company in obtaining temporary restraining order for trademark infringement.°
  • Represented consumer goods company in multi-patent infringement action, specifically acting as lead associate during fact discovery.°
  • Drafted and argued motion obtaining dismissal of affirmative defenses and counterclaim on behalf of employer in a breach of confidentiality agreement case.°
