Shane Niebergall is a shareholder in Greenberg Traurig’s Denver office. Shane has more than 25 years of experience in intellectual property law, with emphasis on U.S.-based and international intellectual property counseling, litigation, and patent prosecution. He helps clients develop patent portfolios that act as competitive barriers and new revenue generators.

Throughout his career, Shane has anchored his practice around client service. His ability to view issues through both a technical lens and a legal lens provides value to the companies and inventors he counsels. He believes that the practice of patent law should never involve a “one-size-fits-all” approach. Rather, Shane takes the extra time to understand his clients' needs, business goals, and the industries in which they operate before developing a patent strategy. This allows him to find the right strategies that align most closely with his clients’ objectives. In doing so, Shane helps his clients develop corporate policies to identify, evaluate and monetize patentable technologies.

Shane manages significant patent portfolios for his clients and provides counseling on various patentability and infringement issues. These issues include design-around strategies, the investigation of new products launched in the marketplace, and enforcement/monetization strategies.
