India L. Sneed is a dynamic attorney with a diverse background including trial practice, election law practice, minority and women business enterprises certification guidance policy and legislation development, government relations, and community engagement.

India’s practice is focused on government relations. She represents clients at the Municipal, State and Federal level on election law matters including petition process, ballot access, challenges, and court proceedings.  Most recently India was involved in the ballot challenges that took place during the New York State Primary; Pennsylvania voter protection and candidate representation for the Presidential election; and is providing guidance to campaigns participating in the upcoming New York City elections.

India also provides guidance to companies on procurement matters that include appeals and disputes as they arise. She has advised clients on MWBE certification and has assisted on strategies for companies needing to meet MWBE engagement requirements.

India has also provided guidance to clients in a variety of different industries (manufacturing, media, retail, textiles) in navigating Executive Orders issued throughout the country and in response to COVID-19.

Her trial skills are often applied to white collar matters including investigation and discovery production to Attorneys General and oversight agencies. India has also provided guidance to Fortune 100 companies and associations on their Racial Justice Initiatives and legislative policy agendas.  

India’s community engagement experience and relationships throughout all five boroughs of New York City have helped clients in reaching important audiences that include civic, professional and community associations, community boards and elected officials. This has been particularly helpful in for clients real estate development and redevelopment.

India began her career in politics and government in 2011 as Legislative and Budget Director where she oversaw discretionary allocations of city funding and was responsible for researching, drafting, and gaining support for proposed legislation and policy positions. India graduated law school in 2013 and began working as the Executive Director of New York State Black Caucus. In that role, India cultivated relationships with New York State Assembly members, Senators, staffers, and agency leadership to promote Caucus policy agendas and community awareness initiatives.

India later joined the Kings County District Attorney's office as a member of Hon. Kenneth Thomson's inaugural class and accepted a position in the Civil Rights bureau of the office- trying six cases before juries and the Bench as first and second chair. In 2018, India returned to politics as a City Council member’s Chief of Staff where she helped craft legislation and position her member for Speaker. India was next hired by the New York City Mayor's Office of Criminal Justice where, as Deputy Executive Director of MAP, she helped public housing residents organize to effectuate policies and relationships that would help lower crime in their community.

India is also strongly committed to pro bono work and has regularly surpassed minimum hour expectations for firm associates. She lends her skill to a variety of efforts in assisting clients on deed modifications, securing trademarks, assisting inmates with significant medical issues gain compassionate release amid COVID-19. India also dedicates her time to Greenberg Traurig’s programming focused on creating greater equity for communities of color.
