Daniel D. Straus

Daniel D. Straus is an associate in the firm’s Washington, D.C. office. He is a member of the Government Contracts & Projects Group. Prior to joining the firm, he served as an Attorney for the United States Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC). At the NRC, he represented the Agency in bid protests and advised the Staff on a variety of contracting and procurement issues.



  • Bid Protests: Represents government contractors in pre- and post-award bid protests during Agency Level Protests, and before the U.S. Government Accountability Office and U.S. Court of Federal Claims.
  • Contract Claims: Represents government contractors in the preparation of requests for equitable adjustments and termination settlement proposals, as well as the defense of claims before the Boards of Contract Appeals.
  • Contract Advice: Advises government contractors on all manner of issues arising under the FAR and FAR supplements, including bid preparation, ethics, protest rights, claims and disputes, subcontracts and teaming arrangements, default terminations, data rights and other intellectual property issues, and past performance assessments.
  • Security Clearance Appeals: Represents industry officials and employees in national security clearance reviews.
  • Pro Bono: Represents veterans in discharge upgrade appeals before the Discharge Review Boards and the Boards for Correction of Military Records; prepares amicus briefs on behalf of trade associations in Government Contracts litigation.
  • Represented a federal agency in a post-award bid protest before the Government Accountability Office (GAO) involving a multiple-award IT procurement.°
