  • General Counsel and Senior Vice President, Legal and Business Affairs, Turner Entertainment Group, Inc., Atlanta, GA, 1996-2001
    • Built and supervised lawyer group in excess of 20 lawyers.
    • Designed and negotiated production, financing and acquisition agreements for dramatic live action, documentary and animated programming in long form, short form and series formats for traditional networks as well as digital media. Both original programming for TNT Originals, TBS Originals, The Cartoon Network Originals as well as acquisition of theatrical films and off-network series from major studios including Disney, Sony, Universal, Warner Bros., New Line, Paramount and MGM.
    • Developed and implemented marketing guidelines for on-air, web site and offchannel advertising and sponsorship agreements, promotions, contests and sweepstakes.
    • Developed and implemented legal strategy for acquisition of broadband, enhanced television, interactive television, Internet, wireless and other "new and emerging" media rights in licensed and original programming.
    • Supervised legal and business policies for entertainment and sports web sites including cartoonnetwork.com, tnt.turner.com, wcw.com, atlantabraves.com including production and acquisition agreements, suppliers agreements and regulatory oversight including privacy guidelines, Kid Vid, e-commerce and antipiracy.
    • Managed litigation including hiring and supervision of outside counsel.
    • Supervised intellectual property program including trademark and copyright registration and enforcement.
    • Oversight of labor and employment including executive employment agreements and guild relations with The Screen Actors Guild, The Directors Guild of America and The Writers Guild of America. Served as designate to the board of the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers.
    • Oversight of legal services for the Atlanta Braves, the Atlanta Hawks, the Atlanta Thrashers, Turner Field, Philips Arena and Turner Sports, including relationships with Major League Baseball, National Basketball Association and NASCAR.
