CMA 123rd National Western Mining Conference

GT Shareholder, Christopher Neuman discusses "Navigating Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) Risk and Opportunities: Strategic and Legal Perspectives" at the CMA's 123rd National Western Mining Conference.

The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) being urged to develop ESG disclosure policies and an increasing number of investors and business partners are using ESG criteria to make investment decisions.  Thus, many mining and energy companies are considering whether and how to include ESG-related information on websites, public reports, and SEC filings.  As companies develop successful ESG reporting strategies, they must consider the continuous changes in disclosure standards from organizations like SASB and recent legal decisions shedding light on ESG disclosure risks.  This panel will explore emerging requirements and strategies for ESG disclosures, the legal risk associated with ESG disclosures, and the role of audits and other tools to mitigate ESG disclosure risk.
