WASHINGTON, D.C. (June 25, 2014) – On the heels of Robert Brams’ move to Greenberg Traurig’s Washington, D.C. office, a second Patton Boggs partner, Michael Schaengold, has also jumped and will be Co-Chair of the firm's Government Contracts & Projects Practice along with Brams.

Schaengold focuses on government contracts litigation and counseling. His substantial government contracts dispute and bid protest experience includes the successful litigation of major cases before the Government Accountability Office (GAO), the U.S. Court of Federal Claims, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit and the Boards of Contract Appeals. He has represented clients in disputes involving most major departments and agencies of the U.S. Government. In recent years, he has focused on procurements involving the Department of Defense, the General Services Administration, the U.S. Postal Service, the National Aeronautical and Space Administration (NASA), the Department of Homeland Security, the Department of Housing and Urban Development, the Department of State and the Department of Energy. He also has substantial experience in due diligence reviews and other issues related to the acquisition, merger, spin-off, or sale of government contractors. Schaengold also represents clients in patent appeals to the Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit and in patent/ government contracts litigation against the U.S. Government in the Court of Federal Claims. He has represented clients in some of the largest appeals to the Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, including several valued at more than $1 billion. The last four Chief Judges of the Federal Circuit have appointed Schaengold to that Court’s Advisory Council and/or Rules Advisory Committee. From 2004 to 2010, he served as Co-Chair of the Federal Circuit’s Advisory Council and, by appointment of the last two Chief Judges of the Court of Federal Claims,; he serves as a Member of the Court of Federal Claims’ Advisory Council. Super Lawyers lists him as a “Washington, D.C. Super Lawyer.” He serves as a Member of the Advisory Board for The Government Contractor (Thomson Reuters/West) and is a frequent lecturer including, for example, at the West Government Contracts Year in Review Conference, Federal Circuit Judicial Conferences, and the George Washington University Law School’s Government Procurement Law Program. He has published over 20 articles on Government contracts and Federal Circuit related topics.
