Greenberg Traurig's Miguel Flores, James Serota and Víctor Manuel Frías Participate In ICC Mexico Commission on Competition Event

MEXICO CITY Feb. 23, 2016Miguel Flores, shareholder in the Mexico City office of international law firm Greenberg Traurig, LLP, James Serota, shareholder in the firm’s New York office, and Víctor Manuel Frías, shareholder in Greenberg Traurig’s Mexico City office, participated at the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) Mexico Commission on Competition event workshop that took place in February in Mexico City, Mexico.

During the event workshop, ICC Mexico presented the ICC Antitrust Compliance Toolkit designed to assist companies in building and reinforcing credible antitrust compliance programs aimed at reducing the risk of antitrust violations.

Flores, who also serves as vice president of ICC Mexico’s Commission on Competition, presented the ICC Toolkit during a panel discussion. Serota discussed, “Economic Competition and Compliance: Private Sector Vision, Applications and Corporate Culture” during an earlier panel, and led a practical case study session that was organized by Frías.

The ICC Commission on Competition ensures that modern business needs and markets are taken into account in the formulation and implementation of competition laws and policies.

The elements in the ICC Antitrust Compliance Toolkit are not intended to represent a comprehensive or prescriptive list of what an antitrust compliance program must include, but instead to highlight best practices in the field.

Flores focuses his practice on antitrust and competition issues, including merger reviews, investigations of alleged anticompetitive conduct, litigation and counseling. Flores has designed and implemented antitrust/competition programs for clients in various industries in Mexico. Flores regularly represents clients before the two Mexican competition authorities: Comisión Federal de Competencia Económica and Instituto Federal de las Telecomunicaciones. Flores previously served as a Commissioner in the Federal Competition Commission.

Serota concentrates his practice on antitrust and business litigation. Serota has prosecuted treble damage antitrust claims and defended civil and criminal antitrust litigation and investigations in a wide variety of industries, particularly regulated industries. For more than 30 years, Serota has advised industries that are evolving from regulation to competition.

Frías focuses his practice on business and competition law, including mergers and acquisitions and their economic and competitive issues. Frías has represented clients in numerous investigations that were carried out by the Competition Commission in Mexico in the pharmaceutical, cement, compressors, ODDs, LCDs, CRTs, and travelling services markets.
