Greenberg Traurig Sponsors 5th Annual Best Practices in IP Management

NEW YORK – April 25, 2017 – Global law firm Greenberg Traurig, LLP sponsored the 5th Annual Best Practices in IP Management in Tel Aviv, March 27-28. Barry J. Schindler, Co-Chair of the firm’s Global Patent Prosecution Group and an active member of the firm’s Israel Practice, co-chaired the event. Schindler and IP & Technology Shareholder Dr. Weisun Rao also presented at the three-day conference.

Schindler moderated the panel "THE BIG DEBATE: Patent or WHAT ELSE?" He also hosted a lunch-and-learn session regarding "Using the Dale Carnegie Approach (“How to Win Friends and Influence People”) with Responses at the USPTO," and a master class focused on “Inter Partes Review Proceedings and Patent Eligibility: The Impact on US Patent Prosecution.”

In addition, Rao and Schindler spoke on the following panels: "Methods of Attacking Patents at the Patent Offices: Comparing Procedures in Europe, US and China;" "Design Patents in the World of IP Globalization: A Comparison;" and "Trade Secrets by Jurisdiction US Europe and China.”

The event included 12 sessions in three afternoon tracks on IP Global Strategies: IP Prosecution, Analysis by Country: and IP Enforcement. The event hosted roughly 200 leaders of the Israeli and international IP communities.

Schindler has more than 25 years of legal experience in all aspects of pharmaceutical and chemical patent prosecution, representing numerous major pharmaceutical and chemical companies regarding patents relating to small molecules and synthetic compounds.

Rao focuses his practice on intellectual property law and business law. He is experienced in developing IP strategies and building and managing IP portfolios for legal and business opportunities in the United States, China and elsewhere in the world.
