Each new car is a new piece of infrastructure: At the #mobltcamp, new mobility concepts are discussed from various angles

BERLIN – June 30, 2017 – The first ever #mobltcamp, a new platform on the topics of mobility and technology initiated by Greenberg Traurig, among others, and supported by them as main sponsor, is taking place in Berlin today.

Keynotes were given by Dr. Kay Lindemann, CEO of the German Association of the Automotive Industry VDA, and Klaas Wilhelm Bollhöfer, Chief Evangelist of The unbelievable Machine Company. Klaas Wilhelm Bollhöfer observed that with each car produced, a new piece of infrastructure is created. According to him, designing and operating these structures and developing solutions for urgent issues such as data transfer or data security constitute the most important challenges for the future. A key point in this respect is the ability to “unlearn” things because emerging technologies such as autonomous vehicles are also about discarding traditional concepts, in this case the concept of driving, and developing new ones.

The #mobltcamp is characterized by topicality and activity. The participants can suggest topics, help define the contents of the program, and thus collectively establish the agenda. When the sessions were planned, a wide variety of topics was pitched, ranging from autonomous trucks to mobility and vehicle data, seamless mobility, and big and small data through to the new law on automated driving.

“The large number of participants and the enormous range of sessions show that we have to think in entirely new dimensions when we talk about mobility in the future. Mobility issues are long since anchored not only within their own industries, but through aspects such as data protection or artificial intelligence, they are closely interlinked with technological developments. The #mobltcamp is an ideal platform for interdisciplinary exchange,” Dr. Dieter Neumann, head of Greenberg Traurig Germany’s Infrastructure Practice, says.
