Greenberg Traurig Named ALM Georgia Regional Litigation Department of the Year

ATLANTA – Dec. 13, 2018 – The Litigation Practice in the Georgia office of global law firm Greenberg Traurig, LLP received The American Lawyer’s Regional Litigation Department of the Year Award for Georgia at a black-tie awards event in New York City on Dec. 5.

According to the magazine’s publisher, American Lawyer Media (ALM), the recognitions “honor exceptional work that goes on across the entire legal services delivery spectrum and the increasing interconnectedness among members of that community."

Greenberg Traurig Co-President Ernest LaMont Greer, who is a litigation shareholder in Atlanta, and Lori G. Cohen, co-chair of the firm's Global Litigation Practice and chair of its Pharmaceutical, Medical Device & Health Care Litigation Practice, accepted the award at The American Lawyer Industry Awards on behalf of the group.

This is the fourth consecutive year Greenberg Traurig’s Atlanta litigation departments have been recognized by ALM publications. ALM’s Georgia-based Daily Report honored the firm in 2013, 2015, 2016 and 2017 for Products Liability for its representation of pharmaceutical and medical device companies in some of the most significant litigation affecting the industry handled by the firm’s Products Liability & Mass Torts and Pharmaceutical, Medical Device & Health Care Practices. The firm was also honored in 2015 and 2016 in Labor & Employment for the handling and trying of complex bet-the-company and large high-stake cases including class and collective actions by the Atlanta office’s Labor & Employment Practice.

The firm also won The American Lawyer’s National Litigation Department of the Year for Products Liability Award. Atlanta-based Cohen and New York shareholders Russell "Chip" A. Gaudreau, III and Daniel I.A. Smulian, accepted the award for the team.

The event opened with Cesar L. Alvarez, senior chairman of Greenberg Traurig, receiving the Lifetime Achievement Award. The award honors attorneys whose remarkable careers have shaped the legal profession.

During the evening, the Litigation team in the firm’s Philadelphia office was also recognized, as a finalist for The American Lawyer Regional Litigation Department of the Year Award for Pennsylvania.
