Greenberg Traurig Participates in 2018 eMerge Americas Conference

MIAMI – April 20, 2018 - Greenberg Traurig Shareholders Jaret L. Davis and Carlos R. Lago will be featured speakers during the 2018 eMerge Americas Conference April 23– 24 at the Miami Beach Convention Center in Miami Beach, Florida. In its fifth year, the two-day technology conference is the premier technology event connecting Latin America, North America and Europe. The annual conference gathers the brightest minds to discuss the digital revolution and how its impact on companies, economies and society is reinventing Innovation in the Americas. It is a unique convening of global enterprises, leading startups and government leaders focused on innovative digital solutions transforming industries.

Davis, a member of the firm’s Corporate Practice, will moderate a panel presentation at 2:30 p.m. April 23 on Redesigning Security. Davis and panel members will share insights on how businesses can have a better understanding of security risks involved in their decision-making process and provide strategies to assist them with redesigning security programs. Panelists include Andy Ellis, Chief Security Officer, Akamai; Dr. Patrick Traynor, Co-Director, Florida Institute of Cybersecurity Research; and Christopher Day, Chief Cybersecurity Officer, Cyxtera Technologies.

Lago, a member of Greenberg Traurig’s Land Development Practice, will participate in a Mayor’s Roundtable at 3:00 p.m. April 23 on transit solutions. Participants will discuss sustainability, land development and public policy aimed at improving public transit. Panelists include Carlos Lopez-Cantera, Lieutenant Governor Florida; Sam Cohen, General Manager, Florida Lyft; Lilian Coral, Director of National Strategy, Knight Foundation; Mario Alejandro Estrada, Mayor, Jalapa, Guatemala; Michael Finney, President and CEO, Miami-Dade Beacon Council; Carlos A. Davis is Co-Managing Shareholder of the firm’s Miami office, where he oversees approximately 170 attorneys and 200 business staff based in the firm’s founding office and focuses his corporate and securities practice on domestic and cross-border mergers and acquisitions, capital markets transactions, and large financings. The vast majority of Davis’ clients are technology players in variety of areas including information technology, life sciences/biotech and renewable energy sources. He routinely provides representation to publicly traded clients having an aggregate market capitalization of over $20 billion. Recent notable representations in the IT space included leading the team that represented Medina Capital in its $3 billion acquisition of a portfolio of 57 data centers across the globe and suite of cybersecurity and data analytics companies. Recent notable representations in the life sciences/healthcare space included lead the team that represented Exactech, Inc., a Nasdaq-listed producer of orthopedic solutions, in connection with its $737 million acquisition by the global private equity fund, TPG Capital,

Lago focuses his practice on land use, zoning and governmental affairs. Prior to joining the firm, he was the chief of staff for the largest hospital system in Florida, managing the health system's legislative agenda at the local, state and federal levels. Lago was also senior policy analyst for Miami City Commissioner Francis Suarez, working directly with the commissioner and city administration on legislative and policy items related to land use, planning, zoning and outdoor media.
