Greenberg Traurig Philadelphia Expands Its Real Estate Imprint, Adds Rising Star John P. Schwartz

PHILADELPHIA – July 9, 2018 – Global law firm Greenberg Traurig, LLP continues to develop its reputation as the region’s go-to law firm with the strategic addition of John P. Schwartz as a shareholder to the Philadelphia office’s expanding real estate team.

Schwartz, who has handled numerous complex real estate finance, joint venture, and acquisition and sales transactions during tenures at Cozen O’Connor and Dechert, recently transferred that skill set to Greenberg Traurig’s Philadelphia office.  His focus includes REITs, private equity real estate funds, investment banks, insurance companies, and other institutional investors.

“We are excited to bring aboard someone of John’s real estate knowledge and experience. John’s capabilities will help us continue to grow locally what is already one of our firm’s top-tier practice areas,” said Curtis B. Toll, managing shareholder for the Greenberg Traurig Philadelphia office.

“Given the strength of our Global Real Estate Group and the upward trajectory of the Greater Philadelphia market, this is a good time to add talented practitioners of this caliber to our team here.”

In recent years, Schwartz has handled transactions ranging from multimillions to billions of dollars for clients as near as West Conshohocken and as far as Hong Kong. Named to Pennsylvania Super Lawyers’ “Rising Star” list for four consecutive years, Schwartz said he was excited about making the move to GT.

A graduate of the University of Pittsburgh and New York Law School, Schwartz holds memberships with the Philadelphia Bar Association and the New York State Bar Association.

“I know this market, but I also have strong acumen for the big real estate picture,” said Schwartz, who grew up in Bucks County. “Greenberg Traurig is such a respected firm in so many areas. Being able to offer clients the depth of our services across a range of practices is what ultimately led me to join the firm.”

Also playing a role in Greenberg Traurig’s Philadelphia real estate expansion is Eric DiMuzio, who came to the firm from New York’s Willkie Farr. An award-winning associate with a J.D. from Cornell, DiMuzio joined the Real Estate Practice with a focus on commercial leasing, purchases and sales, financing and joint ventures. He is admitted to both the Pennsylvania and New York Bar Associations.

“John and Eric are now part of our deep bench of award-winning real estate attorneys who are focused on delivering quality and value for clients, whether locally or on a global scale, across sectors,” noted a statement from the firm’s Real Estate Practice Co-Chairs Richard J. Giusto, Robert J. Ivanhoe, and Corey E. Light.
