Greenberg Traurig’s Stephen Baird Participates in UI College of Pharmacy’s 2019 Board Initiatives

MINNEAPOLIS – May 16, 2019 – Shareholder Stephen Baird of global law firm Greenberg Traurig, LLP, who serves on the Executive Leadership Board of the College of Pharmacy at the University of Iowa (UI), is assisting the board in a number of key 2019 initiatives, including its campaign to build a new state-of-the-art facility for the college.

UI’s College of Pharmacy is known for its “high-quality pharmacy education, advanced practice models, patient care, drug discovery, product development, and contract manufacturing,” according to its website.

“Steve has exemplified an exceptionally strong commitment to the college and has been a remarkable, thoughtful leader in helping to provide counsel and guidance in strategic analysis, planning, and attainment of key college initiatives,” said the Dean of the UI College of Pharmacy, Professor Donald E. Letendre. “I know that I join Chairman Tom Veale and the other members of the board in saying that we greatly value his contributions to and presence on the board and look forward, with anticipation, to his ongoing active engagement with the board.”

Established in 2010, the Executive Leadership Board of the UI College of Pharmacy is comprised of twenty leaders from the pharmacy and business communities dedicated to advising the college as it pursues its mission and strategic goals. The board’s responsibilities include strategic analysis of environmental issues impacting pharmacy, pharmaceutical care, and drug development; as well as advising the college in its overall philanthropic priorities.

“Since joining our Executive Leadership Board in 2017, Steve has brought a great understanding of today’s challenges in dealing with intellectual property,” said Tom Veale, who chairs the Executive Leadership Board. “This issue has become one of great importance to our school as drug development costs skyrocket. In his role as a board member, he has also contributed greatly to the overall success of our school and many campaigns related to future development of our programs and facilities.”

Baird, a member of Greenberg Traurig’s Minneapolis office, works with clients to address their most difficult trademark problems.
