Greenberg Traurig Finalist for Global Firm of the Year in Europe Award for 2nd Consecutive Year by The Lawyer

NEW YORK – Dec. 2, 2020 – For a second consecutive year, global law firm Greenberg Traurig, LLP was selected as one of only a few finalists for the The Lawyer’s Global Law Firm of the Year in Europe Award. The UK-based legal publication shortlisted firms from among a record-breaking number of submissions, it said. The Lawyer's 2020 European Awards were presented during a virtual ceremony on Dec. 1.

“This is a testament to many things, but especially trust, respect and collaboration: each person who joined us in Europe believed in our model, respected our culture, adopted our dream, and has enhanced them; our family outside Europe embraced our European colleagues with our spirit of trust, collaboration and empowerment. And we found opportunity in change, just as we did across the United States over the decades. We found turbulence, disruption, and uncertainty in markets and in the legal profession to be an ideal environment in which to move forward and grow from strength and emerge even stronger,” said Richard A. Rosenbaum, Greenberg Traurig’s Executive Chairman.

This type of success is not easy, according to Rosenbaum, but is in the DNA of the firm: “This takes vision, dedication, an elite-level team which intensely collaborates, and a true commitment to  excellence in the delivery of client service, without excuses and no matter what the external conditions.”

The Lawyer noted that, in selecting the Finalists, its award judges were looking for attributes that included: strategic vision, robust partnership culture, strong financial performance and growth, consistent excellence in delivery of legal services, and outstanding talent management.

Greenberg Traurig, with more than 2200 attorneys in 40 offices, five in Europe, has demonstrated strategic, transformative change in Europe and globally. The firm's brand has grown dramatically along with its revenues, presence in important matters, strong strategic additions, and expansion in current and new markets.

“We appreciate on a truly personal level our award-winning management teams and many senior leaders in Europe--from London to The Netherlands to Germany to Poland to Italy, an incredible group of high quality people, and we have only just begun,” Rosenbaum said.

The firm continues to expand its already strong transactional practices in Europe: real estate, corporate M&A, and private equity. Rosenbaum said the firm is also focused on further developing practices it considers to be key to balancing its business and client offering in the future: litigation, regulatory, infrastructure, and restructuring. The firm’s many landmark deals are evidence of Greenberg Traurig’s “strengths in working on transactions across Europe by collaborating globally,” he said.

Only yesterday, the firm welcomed David van Dijk and his team to its Amsterdam office.  The longstanding leader of the real estate practice at NautaDutilh, Dijk brings a top tier Dutch real estate and disputes practice to the European platform, with tentacles going far beyond.
