Greenberg Traurig's Ted Blum Receives ‘Service Above Self’ Award from Rotary Club of Atlanta

ATLANTA – Feb. 2, 2021Theodore I. Blum, managing shareholder of the Atlanta office of global law firm Greenberg Traurig, LLP, was presented with the “Service Above Self” Award from the Rotary Club of Atlanta on Feb. 1 in recognition of his work to fight human trafficking in the city of Atlanta.

Rotary’s “Service Above Self” Award honors outstanding achievement and leadership by one of the club members and is presented to those “who demonstrate their commitment to helping others by volunteering their time and talents.”

Blum leads several initiatives in the Atlanta community to stop the human trafficking crisis, notably serving as chair of the Rotary Club of Atlanta’s Anti-Human Trafficking Task Force. Over the past several years, the task force has organized events that have brought over 50 Atlanta-based businesses and organizations, representing hundreds of thousands of employees, together to continuously disseminate the mission and encourage and educate business leaders about what they can do to fight trafficking in Atlanta.

Using an approach that asks companies to take the fight on both within their own organizations as well as to join forces as a united front, the task force, under Blum’s leadership, created a large-scale effort designed to make a significant impact on human trafficking in the city of Atlanta.

As an expansion of Blum’s commitment to fighting human trafficking, the Atlanta office of Greenberg Traurig has also taken on the cause by partnering with Wellspring Living, a non-profit organization that offers community-based programs to young girls and women who are survivors of sexual abuse, trafficking, and exploitation.

In partnership with Wellspring Living’s Women’s Academy, the firm hosts career training seminars for survivors of sexual abuse, trafficking, and exploitation on a variety of career-readiness topics over a 10-week period. As the partnership has grown over the years, the office has been privileged to have graduates of the Women’s Academy to join the firm for 12 weeks as apprentices and subsequently hire several women as full-time employees following the program.
