Masa Noda is involved in various aspects of intellectual property policing, protection and enforcement, and has wide-ranging experience in various domestic and global intellectual property matters. Masa represents clients in trademark, trade dress, domain name, copyright, and false advertising litigation in federal and state courts and in the United States Patent and Trademark Office. He also regularly handles matters pertaining to IP licensing, merchandising,  data privacy and cybersecurity, contract disputes, acquisitions and divestitures, commercial exploitation of IP, and due diligence reviews.

Masa also has deep experience in anti-counterfeiting investigation and enforcement, and has successfully implemented strategies combining various IP claims and equitable remedies to obtain seizure orders, asset restraints and other forms of equitable relief against domestic and foreign companies. He regularly works with clients to develop effective and efficient enforcement strategies tailored to each client’s business needs.

In his representation of global brands across a diverse array of industries – inclusive of consumer retail, pharmaceutical, food, fashion, entertainment and media – Masa manages U.S. and international trademark portfolios and also strategically counsels clients on global intellectual property development, protection, licensing, advertising and marketing strategies, and controls crisis situations for clients of all sizes.

As a native Japanese speaker and a true bilingual, Masa represents many Japanese companies in various intellectual property and corporate matters, and serves as go-to US outside counsel for legal matters of all types. Through his keen understanding of the business needs of these companies in the U.S., Masa provides tailored legal and business strategies.



  • Serve as U.S. and global IP strategy counsel for Japanese corporations in consumer retail, pharmaceutical, food, fashion, entertainment, and media industries.
  • Manage worldwide trademark portfolio and act as go-to in-­house U.S. IP counsel for several major consumer retail companies.
  • Represented clients in trademark infringement and counterfeiting litigation that have resulted in multimillion-dollar judgments against infringers and thousands of domains names being transferred to clients.
  • Represented clients in the financial, luxury goods and apparel, and electronics industries in trademark/copyright infringement, unfair competition and trade dress actions.
  • Obtained affirmative judgment for alcoholic beverage company against major competitor in concurrent opposition and cancellation proceedings in the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board of the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
  • Assisted in obtaining complete jury verdict for defense in multibillion-dollar trademark infringement action seeking an injunction against and damages from the proposed expansion of The Plaza Hotel from New York to Las Vegas.
  • Counsel various brand owners regarding license agreements, distribution agreements, marketing agreements and advertising.
