Karusha Y. Sharpe

Karusha Y. Sharpe is a commercial litigator with a broad range of experience representing clients in matters involving products liability, consumer financial services, and employment law. She has litigated matters arising under state and federal consumer protection laws, defended negligence and strict liability claims against manufacturers, defended race and disability discrimination claims against employers, and litigated franchisor-franchisee contractual disputes.

Karusha also has experience assisting national companies with state licensing matters, including securing alcoholic beverage licenses, as well as city, county, and state business permits and registrations.

  • Obtained summary judgment against international vender in defense of alleged breach of technology distribution contract.
  • Won summary judgment for national restaurant franchisor against alleged violations of the Florida Franchise Act and the Florida Deceptive and Unfair Trade Practices Act, along with a jury verdict and judgment for $1.1 million dollars (including attorneys’ fees) against the former franchisee; additionally, the judgment was upheld on appeal before the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals.
  • Represented a major medical products manufacturer in multi-district federal products liability litigation.
  • Represented a national consumer products manufacturer in products liability litigation through Florida.
  • Represented an international manufacturer in defense of a class action alleging mislabeling of a consumer product.
  • Represented regional and national corporations in Florida state and federal courts in defense of employment discrimination claims.
  • Obtained numerous per curiam affirmances of final and non-final orders in favor of mortgage lenders.
  • Represented resorts, golf clubs, retailers and nights clubs in matters pertaining to alcohol beverage and liquor licensing.
  • Provided advice and guidance necessary to navigate all tiers and levels of state and federal alcoholic beverage laws.
  • Represented national corporations seeking business registrations, permits, and licensing at the Florida state, county, and/or city level.
