Andrew Van Duzer

Andrew Van Duzer focuses his practice on arbitration and litigation matters related to energy. He represents clients in arbitration proceedings and has assisted with regulatory proceedings in front of administrative boards at the Nuclear Regulatory Commission. He advises on laws, regulations, and export controls impacting U.S. civil nuclear cooperation with foreign nations. Andrew also has experience representing foreign governments on bilateral treaty negotiations concerning nuclear commerce and nuclear non-proliferation commitments with the United States.

Prior to studying law, Andrew worked for a nuclear energy consulting company where he assisted a country with establishing a peaceful nuclear energy program outside of the United States.

  • Represented a Japanese electric utility in a $700 million ICC dispute over the supply of uranium fuel. Damages awarded against client were under 6% of claimed amount.
  • Represented a solar energy developer in a Japan Commercial Arbitration Association dispute over ownership of a solar power plant. Client prevailed on all issues, retained ownership of company, and was awarded fees and costs.
  • Represented a Japanese component manufacturer in a multi-billion dollar ICC proceeding. Client prevailed on nearly all issues and damages awarded against client were under 5% of claimed amount. Client was awarded a majority of its fees and costs.°
