A decision soon to be released by the U.S. Supreme Court will determine how far municipalities and law enforcement authorities can go to silence protesters. Lozman v. City of Riviera Beach has grown from city council effort to cut off a speaker at a public meeting into a free-speech showdown that will have nationwide implications for citizens and the government officials they criticize. Is Fane Lozman – the activist at the center of the case – a First Amendment soldier or disruptive gadfly? Determine for yourself when he will be our guest speaker at the Miami-Dade Ethics Commission’s Municipal Luncheon. Joining him will be Kerri L. Barsh, a Shareholder of Greenberg Traurig, who assisted Lozman in the first of his two U.S. Supreme Court battles against the Palm Beach County municipality (which he won), and counseled him on the most recent battle.
