ATLANTA Oct. 15, 2015 – The Atlanta office of international law firm Greenberg Traurig, LLP was among six firms selected by the Daily Report as 2015 Litigation Department of the Year winners. The awards, which will be published in the annual Litigation Department of the Year special section, will be presented at an event on Nov. 19.

Greenberg Traurig was the only firm selected as a winner in multiple categories and will accept the award for both the areas of Product Liability and Mass Torts and Labor and Employment. The firm’s Pharmaceutical, Medical Device and Health Care Litigation Practice was chosen for its work for defendants in the medical device and pharmaceutical fields, while the Labor and Employment Practice was recognized for trial wins including beating back claims, for more than $200 million, that its client undervalued common stock in a pension plan.

“This recognition is representative of the excellent work our attorneys in these departments deliver to their clients on a consistent basis,” said Vice President and Co-Managing Shareholder Ernest Greer. “The leaders of Greenberg Traurig do our best to make sure each attorney knows we value their hard work, but it is truly an honor to be acknowledged by an organization such as the Daily Report that is so entrenched in the Atlanta legal community.”

Greenberg Traurig's Pharmaceutical, Medical Device and Health Care Litigation Practice represents some of the largest pharmaceutical and medical device companies in the world in the most significant products liability litigation affecting their industry. The group consists of trial lawyers who regularly try these cases to verdict and have the in-house legal and technological capabilities to efficiently handle dockets of cases numbering in the thousands. The group was also honored with this award in 2013.

The Atlanta Labor and Employment Practice is a trial-oriented practice. The team has numerous trial wins and is frequently called upon to handle complex bet-the-company and large high-stake cases including class and collective actions. It also designs strategies to assist clients with complex employment issues. Its focus is practical proactive strategies designed to be readily implemented by today’s human resources professionals. The team has experienced professionals who help organizations analyze options, make informed decisions, and take effective action.
