Greenberg Traurig Attorney Fred E. Karlinsky Speaks at the IRES Foundation’s National School on Market Regulation

FORT LAUDERDALE and TALLAHASSEE, Fla. April  16, 2015Fred E. Karlinsky, shareholder in the Fort Lauderdale and Tallahassee offices of international law firm Greenberg Traurig P.A., spoke at the Insurance Regulatory Examiners Society (IRES) Foundation’s National School on Market Regulation April 13 and 14 in San Diego, California. Karlinsky, a member of the IRES Foundation Board, introduced keynote speaker California State Insurance Commissioner Dave Jones and moderated several panels over the two day conference including a session entitled “View from the Top: Chief Compliance Officers Panel.”

Karlinsky moderated “All Things California,” with representatives of the California Department of Insurance addressing the life/health/annuity market, property and casualty market, conducting exams (Claims and FRUB), market analysis, complaints, and other hot topics. He co-moderated a “Federal Agency Update” with topics that include Federal Reserve’s authority, FIO’s actions with respect to the affordability of auto insurance, the creation of NARAB and the possibility of a covered agreement on insurance between the United States and foreign governments. Lastly, Karlinsky moderated “It’s Not Just Hurricanes Anymore,” tackling other category type disasters (earthquake, wildfire, mud slide, tornado, etc.), and the compliance challenges that arise, including regulatory requests post-event.

Karlinsky is Co-Chair of Greenberg Traurig's Insurance Regulatory and Transactions Practice Group and a shareholder within the Government Law & Policy Group. He represents insurers, reinsurers, producers and other insurance interests throughout the U.S. and internationally in a wide variety of business, operational, regulatory, transactional and governmental matters. Karlinsky received a bachelor's degree from the University of Miami and a Juris Doctorate from the Florida State University College of Law, where he currently serves as an Adjunct Professor of Law.
