Real Estate Legislation To Watch In The Second Half Of 2016

The future of the EB-5 foreign investment visa program, real estate investment trust spinoffs and conversions, and commercial MBS risk retention rules are among the areas of real estate legislation and regulation lawyers will be watching in the second half of 2016.

Lawyers are also carefully monitoring developments with Basel III high-volatility commercial real estate loans to ensure that those loans — which require keeping more capital on hand than traditional loans do — stay off the books.
