Greenberg Traurig Adds Steven Barringer to Government and Environmental Practices

WASHINGTON – March 27, 2017 – The Washington, D.C. office of global law firm Greenberg Traurig, LLP, has added Steven Barringer as a shareholder in its Government Law & Policy and Environmental practices. Barringer, who served two years as a Special Assistant to the Solicitor in the U.S. Department of the Interior, has counseled clients for more than 30 years on federal legislative and agency strategy, and on issues related to toxic chemicals, hazardous substances and hazardous waste, and water quality.

Barringer, recently included in the Who’s Who Legal for Mining Law 2017 guide, joins Greenberg Traurig from the Washington, D.C. office of Holland & Hart, where he was a partner. He advises mining and other clients on federal public lands and natural resource laws, as well as on compliance with federal and state environmental regulations.

“Steve is well-known to our Government Law & Policy Practice. We have enjoyed working with him in the past, and are excited to welcome him,” said Andrew Zausner, shareholder in Greenberg Traurig’s Government Law & Policy Practice. “Steve has a long-history of commitment to seeing clients through tough issues with unique insight and well-honed experience. He adds to our Federal team’s already robust credibility with key decision makers.”

“We are confident that Steve’s diverse range of experience will benefit our clients. The environmental team is delighted that a distinguished lawyer has again chosen Greenberg Traurig as a platform to serve not only our existing clients, but also new clients Steve is bringing to us,” said David G. Mandelbaum, Co-Chair of the firm’s Environmental Practice.

“I am excited about this next step in my career with Greenberg Traurig, and I am thrilled to be joining a team of such highly-regarded and passionate practitioners in both government and environmental law, and to be rejoining colleagues with whom I have previously worked,” Barringer said. “Greenberg Traurig’s unique global platform and stellar reputation will allow me to provide my clients with a new level of resources.”

Barringer received his J.D. from Brigham Young University in 1983 and received a B.A. in English from the University of North Carolina in 1980. He is admitted in Nevada, Colorado, and the District of Columbia, and is admitted to practice in the Federal District Courts of Colorado, District of Columbia, Maryland, and Nevada, as well as in the Federal Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit.
