Ballon will speak at PLI's 18th Annual Institute on Privacy and Data Security Law, June 12 - 13, at the Hotel Allegro in Chicago. The conference will focus on the critical legal issues relating to information privacy and cybersecurity faced by companies that use personal information.
Gilbert, a shareholder in the Silicon Valley office, has been co-chair of the PLI Privacy and Security Law Institute for the past 17 years and will be giving opening remarks. She will speak on the session, “The Impact of GDPR & Privacy Shield,” and will discuss key principles of the GDPR, recent guidelines published by the Article 29 Working Party, as well as the proposed draft of the E-Privacy Regulation.
Ballon, co-chair of Greenberg Traurig’s Global Intellectual Property & Technology Practice and a shareholder in the Silicon Valley and Los Angeles offices, will be speaking on “Managing Privacy and Data Security Litigation” and will discuss important trends and case law developments involving data privacy and security breach class action litigation. Ballon, among other things, defends high profile data privacy and security breach putative class action suits.
Gilbert focuses her practice and research on U.S. and global data privacy and cybersecurity in a wide variety of markets, including, among others, internet, big data, connected devices, sensors, artificial intelligence, robotics, and other emerging technologies. Her clients include large, multinational entities, big data analytics companies, connected device developers, cloud service providers, publishers, internet stores, insurance companies, financial institutions, manufacturers, service providers, trade associations, non-profit organizations, software developers, and others.
