MIAMI – Nov. 5, 2018 – Iris Escarra, co-chair of the Land Development and Zoning Practice in the Miami office of global law firm Greenberg Traurig, P.A., was recognized on Nov. 1 by the Women Honors Committee and Babson College during the second annual "Women Honoring Women" ceremony.
Each year, the Women Honors Committee celebrates the professional achievements and contributions to women's progress along with the community service of outstanding women who have paved the way for others. Escarra was recognized for her effort to improve the community, along with fellow honorees Sandra Bridgeman, City of Miami Assistant City Manager/Chief Financial Officer; and Penny Townsend, Head of School, Ransom Everglades School.
“I am honored to receive this important recognition and to share it with both Sandra and Penny who have demonstrated a true commitment to our South Florida communities,” Escarra said. “Early in my career, I had the privilege of being mentored by a successful woman who taught me the importance of giving back to my community and mentoring women. I find it part of my responsibility to do the same for others.”
Escarra focuses her practice on land use, zoning and procurement law. She is certified by the Florida Bar as an expert in city, county and local government law, and represents land owners and developers in every phase of a property's development and operation, including conducting due diligence regarding the property's development potential, obtaining all local and state entitlements for new construction, redevelopment, and the introduction of new uses or the preservation of existing uses. Escarra also serves as co-chair of the Greenberg Traurig Miami office Women’s Initiative.
