Greenberg Traurig's Nikki Lewis Simon Elected to Florida Bar Board of Governors

MIAMI – Dec. 21, 2018 – Nikki Lewis Simon, a shareholder and director of Client Development and Corporate Social Responsibility for global law firm Greenberg Traurig, P.A., has been elected to The Florida Bar’s Board of Governors, representing the 11th Circuit in Seat 2 for a two-year term beginning on June 28, 2019.

The Board of Governors is the governing body of The Florida Bar with exclusive authority to formulate and adopt matters of policy concerning the activities of the state bar, subject to limitations in the Rules Regulating The Florida Bar.

Simon has been active in The Florida Bar, serving as the current chair of the 160-member Standing Committee on Diversity and Inclusion; a member of the Wm. Reece Smith Jr. (Florida Bar) Leadership Academy Committee; a member of the Business Law Section; a past vice chair and former member of the Federal Court Practice Committee; former chair of the Federal Judicial Roundtable; and a prior member of the Media & Communications Law Committee. Simon is also an alumna of the inaugural class of The Florida Bar Leadership Academy.

“I am honored to have the opportunity to serve on The Board of Governors and advance the practice of law in Florida,” said Simon, who is based in Greenberg Traurig’s Miami office. “Participating in The Florida Bar’s many worthwhile initiatives has always been important to me, and I look forward to continuing and enhancing my involvement.”

In serving as Greenberg Traurig’s director of Client Development and Corporate Social Responsibility, Simon works to strategically align the firm’s diversity and inclusion programming and initiatives with client needs, thereby serving as an integral component of the business development function on a global scale, among other work. Prior to assuming primary responsibilities on the business side of the firm, Nikki represented her cross-industry clients’ business objectives by protecting their capital, whether human, intellectual, or financial, against claims of wrongdoing in complex commercial and class action litigation matters.

“We congratulate Nikki on this well-deserved honor,” said Yosbel A. Ibarra, co-managing shareholder of Greenberg Traurig’s Miami office. “Her service, both to the firm and to The Florida Bar, is exemplary of the professional excellence we value at the highest level at Greenberg Traurig.”
