WASHINGTON, D.C. – May 21, 2018 – Troy A. Eid, a shareholder in the Denver office of global law firm Greenberg Traurig LLP, testified as an expert witness at the first meeting of the Federal Commission on School Safety in Washington, D.C. held Thursday, May 17. Eid, a former United States Attorney for Colorado who joined the law firm in 2003, was Chief Counsel to Colorado Governor Bill Owens (now a Director in the firm’s Denver office). He was also a member of a panel, convened by Owens, that investigated the shooting at Colorado’s Columbine High School in 1999. The commission, created by President Trump earlier this year following a shooting at a Florida high school, is chaired by U.S. Education Secretary Betsy DeVos and includes U.S. Attorney General Jeff Sessions, U.S. Health and Human Services Secretary Alex Azar II, and Kirstjen Nielsen, U.S. Secretary of Homeland Security. The President charged the commission with providing legal and policy recommendations and best practices for preventing and mitigating future incidents.
