Greenberg Traurig Germany grows by adding employment team

Berlin, 16 May 2019Greenberg Traurig wins the renowned employment partner Kara Preedy who will join mid-May 2019 from Pusch Wahlig Workplace Law. She will change together with Konradin Pleul and Holger Faust, who are both counsel. The team starts jointly with Dorothee von Einem, senior associate at Greenberg Traurig, and plans to further grow at associate level.

With this step, Greenberg Traurig Germany is not only expanding its employment law practice, but is at the same time taking a new path: the team will act as a fully integrated specialist unit of Greenberg Traurig and will operate in the market as "GT Labor Lab – a Greenberg Traurig Business". Using this structure, Greenberg Traurig sets itself apart from other large international law firms, which are increasingly confining themselves to transaction-related employment law and thus leaving the broad spectrum of advising HR departments to specialized labor law boutiques. "GT Labor Lab" will bridge the gap between those two worlds, combining traditional labor and employment law and strategic advice to HR departments with fully integrated support in M&A transactions and complex restructurings.

In response to changes in the modern workplace, the new unit will also be involved in the development and design of future-oriented work concepts. A “sounding board”, consisting of clients and HR experts, will incorporate new ideas and impulses from HR practices into the legal world. "GT Labor Lab" will also provide room for an increasing implementation of flexible working models and management methods into the day-to-day legal work.

In addition to strengthening the growing M&A practice, Greenberg Traurig will benefit from further synergies in the areas of compliance, data protection, conflict solution and litigation, in which the firm has acknowledged expertise. In addition, there are joint approaches in the media, technology and infrastructure sectors, where Kara Preedy's team represents numerous clients.

Christian Schede, Managing Partner of Greenberg Traurig Germany, explains the step: "With the ‘GT Labor Lab’ we will be able to better meet the increasing demand for support to our growing M&A team. At the same time, we are taking a new approach by offering both our clients and the HR world specialized and holistic advice from a single source. ‘GT Labor Lab’ fits perfectly with our understanding of always being at the forefront of new market developments, which is at the core Greenberg Traurig's profile. With Kara Preedy, Konradin Pleul and Holger Faust, we have been able to win a well-positioned and experienced team for first-class employment law advice and new HR concepts."

Kara Preedy commented on the team's decision: "It is very exciting for us to be able to shape future-oriented work in such a dynamic and international environment at Greenberg Traurig. We believe a good combination of first-class service, challenging international client work and flexible working time models is the main topic that law firms face in the future. The new structure allows us to try out new approaches in cooperation, also around legal tech. We are delighted to develop new concepts together with Greenberg Traurig and to learn from joint experience."
