“I am keenly aware of the rich history and legacy behind the Silver Medallion award, and I’m honored to have been recognized by MCCJ and its Board of Directors,” Davis said. “If each of us as leaders, as citizens, and as a family, commit to a goal of constant self-questioning, I believe we will replace a mere tolerance of differences with a celebration of those differences.”

MCCJ seeks an inclusive community in which all people are treated with dignity and respect, according to their website. Their mission includes creating safe havens for dialog, training inclusive leaders, and highlighting the benefits of diversity through education, advocacy, and conflict resolution. Since 1946, MCCJ has hosted the annual Humanitarian Dinner and Awards Gala to honor outstanding leaders in Miami.

“Jaret Davis has leveraged his profession as the co-managing shareholder of the Miami office of Greenberg Traurig, P.A. with his civic duties, which he’s incredibly passionate about,” said Nestor A. Rodriguez, MCCJ Executive Director. “His community involvement reads like an encyclopedia, speaking out on behalf of the most vulnerable, and taking extraordinary measures to build a more inclusive, welcoming, and just Miami. MCCJ is honored to award him the 2020 Silver Medallion Award.”

As co-managing shareholder of Greenberg Traurig’s Miami office, Davis oversees approximately 170 attorneys and 200 business staff. For more than a decade, he has overseen the office and served as one of several attorneys leading the firm’s efforts to be a dominant player in the technology industry both in South Florida and beyond. Davis focuses his corporate and securities practice on domestic and cross-border mergers and acquisitions, capital markets transactions, and large financings.

In addition to his practice, Davis serves in a number of civic capacities which allow him to leverage his professional interests to assist the community. He is chairman of the board of directors of Nicklaus Children’s Hospital, co-founded and serves as general counsel of the eMerge Americas global technology conference, and is the community representative director of The Adrienne Arsht Center Trust. He is past chair of The Miami-Dade Beacon Council, Miami-Dade County’s official economic development organization.

Greenberg Traurig Senior Chairman and previous MCCJ Silver Medallion honoree Cesar L. Alvarez, and his wife Cristina Pereyra-Alvarez, served as 2020 Humanitarian Award Event Chairs.
