Greenberg Traurig Takes ‘Law Firm of the Year’ and ‘M&A Advisor of the Year’ Awards at 2020 Finvest Global Summit

NORTHERN VIRGINIA – Feb. 21, 2020 – Global law firm Greenberg Traurig, LLP received the “Law Firm of the Year” and “M&A Advisor of the Year” awards at the 2020 Finvest Global Summit Awards on Feb. 13, 2020 in Zurich for its involvement in complex and historic transactions and representations in the Cloud sector. Northern Virginia office Corporate Practice Shareholder Kemal Hawa, who leads the firm’s team dedicated to Cloud industry clients, accepted both awards on behalf of Greenberg Traurig.

The M&A award was based on, among others, the firm’s representation of a client in what is considered the largest data center M&A transaction in the history. The multidisciplinary, Amsterdam-based Greenberg Traurig team on this transaction was led by shareholder Bas Vletter (M&A/ECM) and lead associates Laurens Timmer and Rutger Sterk (Corporate/M&A) and included shareholders Thomas van der Vliet (Tax), Thédoor Melchers (M&A), Paul Westhoff (Corporate), Thomas Timmermans (Employment), Wietse de Jong (ECM), further supported by associates Suzanne Walstra (Tax), Lotte Kuhn, Monisha Sardjoe, and Jan Herfkens (Corporate/M&A).

Greenberg Traurig regularly represents Cloud sector clients in complex wholesale and retail data center leases, build-to-suit deals, M&A and other strategic investments, financings, business rollouts, and regulatory and compliance matters.

“We are proud to be working with clients across the globe who are on the cutting edge of this dynamic industry and thank them for their trust, as well as the support of our integrated U.S. and European Cloud Industry Team -- resulting in these honors,” Hawa said.
