Greenberg Traurig Sponsors, Participates in Virtual CCWC Annual Career Strategies Conference

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Sept. 25, 2020 – Global law firm Greenberg Traurig, LLP is sponsoring the Corporate Counsel Women of Color’s (CCWC) 16th Annual Career Strategies Conference. Shareholders Johnine P. Barnes, Nikki Lewis Simon, and Michele L. Stocker and Of Counsel Marina Olman-Pal will participate virtually in the conference Sept. 28- 30.

CCWC is a not-for-profit organization comprised of women attorneys of color who have created a forum to facilitate networking and promote career advancement of in-house women of color, as well as diversity and inclusion throughout the legal profession.

Simon will moderate the Fireside Chats Sept. 28 and 29 with Nicole Streeter of the Council of the District of Columbia, Linda Gadsby of the National Board of Medical Examiners, and Gisele Kalonzo-Douglas of the Bethel Gospel Assembly.

Barnes and Stocker will speak as part of the Millennial Track Bootcamp breakout sessions:

  • “Navigating: Big Law Firm Experience and the Path to Law Firm Partner and In-house Counsel to General Counsel”
  • “Everyone Wins! Getting the Most Out of Your Performance Evaluation and Supervisor’s Feedback”

Olman-Pal will speak during the CCWC Morning Bootcamp on the topic of “Anti-Money Laundering: Minimizing Risk for Computer and Mobile Transactions.”

Based in the firm’s Washington, D.C. office, Barnes’ practice includes litigating and defending administrative claims of harassment, retaliation, and discrimination; wrongful discharge and breach of contract issues. Her practice also includes counseling clients on employment and labor compliance issues.

Olman-Pal, based in the Miami office, counsels companies in the financial services sector. She advises foreign and U.S. financial institutions on regulatory matters, including licensing, acquisitions, divestitures, compliance with Bank Secrecy Act/anti-money laundering laws and regulations, and compliance with Office of Foreign Assets Control sanctions programs.

Simon, a commercial litigator based in Miami with more than 20 years of experience, primarily serves as the firm’s Chief Diversity Officer. In this capacity, Simon designs and guides strategic initiatives and programs to deepen firmwide diversity and inclusion efforts that further enrich client engagements and community investments. Her role is indicative of, and integral to, Greenberg Traurig’s core values of collaboration and inclusion.

Stocker is co-chair of the Consumer Financial Services Litigation Practice and is based in the Fort Lauderdale office. Stocker is a commercial litigator with a broad range of experience representing clients in the financial services industry, including regional and national banks, loan servicers, consumer finance companies, mortgage bankers, credit card issuers, debt buyers, and third-party debt collectors.
