Gabe Fleet represents creative individuals, brand owners, digital media services, content studios and other entertainment companies in connection with a broad range of entertainment matters, intellectual property matters, commercial transactions and related regulatory compliance matters. His practice has an emphasis on bridging the gap between players in the entertainment industry and companies outside the entertainment industry, and on helping clients navigate the complex legal and business issues unique to the space where these two worlds intersect.

Gabe’s practice involves facilitating the creation of original content and branded entertainment to be distributed via various new media platforms and used in connection with innovative advertising, marketing and promotional initiatives, as well as the licensing of music and other entertainment content on behalf of high-profile consumer brands and clients with cutting-edge digital entertainment services. Gabe also leverages his experience as a former professional musician and artist manager in his representation of recording artists, songwriters and other creative people, and has experience facilitating a wide array of transactions for such individuals both within and outside the entertainment industry.

  • Represented brand owners, agencies, production companies and talent in connection with the creation and exploitation of branded entertainment content and the entertainment-related aspects of marketing, advertising and promotional campaigns, including talent and influencer agreements, music licensing, rights clearances, master services agreements, venue rental agreements, vendor agreements and other live event production contracts, brand/product integration agreements, union/guild considerations, and user-generated content issues. Specific matters have included work for numerous projects that have won ADDY, CLIO, Cannes Lions, GRAMMY and EMMY awards, multiple Super Bowl ads, and dozens of campaigns for some of the world’s most significant and well-known technology, fashion, fragrance, automobile, alcohol, hospitality, travel and media brands. 
  • Represented digital media platforms, content studios and production companies in connection with the development, production, distribution and monetization of new audiovisual works, podcasts and other original content, including negotiating production services agreements, co-production agreements, license and distribution agreements, talent agreements, music licenses, location releases, and other clearances. Specific matters have included overseeing legal matters touching all aspects of development, production and distribution for dozens of digital video series, concert films, television specials, independent films, documentaries and podcast series.          
  • Extensive experience in matters pertaining specifically to the music-related aspects of television, film and other original content production, including composer agreements, artist and record label clearances, synchronization licensing, soundtrack agreements, rights administration and distribution agreements, risk assessment, and strategic counseling. Specific matters have included overseeing teams of GT lawyers handling all music-related work for multiple major original content studios (including the studios of some of the world’s largest and most well-known companies), in connection with over 100 different productions. 
  • Negotiated complex content license agreements with record companies, music publishing companies, performing rights organizations (ASCAP, BMI, SESAC, etc.), motion picture studios, television content owners and various other rightsholders regarding the licensing of music, motion pictures, television programs, artwork and other content for use in various types of ground-breaking, new digital media offerings, including "on-demand" and "non-interactive" streaming music services, social media platforms, user generated content services, messaging apps, video-on-demand services, fitness services, digital jukeboxes, background music/video services, and a wide variety of video game products. Clients in this space have included many of the world’s largest and highest-profile entertainment, media and technology companies, as well as cutting-edge digital media start-ups.
  • Represented dozens of internationally-acclaimed recording artists, producers, songwriters and other creative individuals, as well as various independent record labels, independent music publishers and artist management companies, in connection with the negotiation of recording agreements, publishing agreements, producer agreements, personal management agreements, talent agreements, merchandise agreements, touring agreements, and other "core" entertainment industry transactions.
  • Negotiated complex, multi-faceted intellectual property license agreements, personal services agreements and joint venture agreements for celebrity-branded products, restaurants, casino and hotel properties, and other establishments. Specific matters have included representing numerous world-famous, celebrity-affiliated lifestyle brands in connection with various business initiatives in the gaming, restaurant, hospitality, food and beverage, alcohol, apparel and consumer products industries. 
  • Broad experience coordinating and managing gaming licensing and alcoholic beverage licensing matters in various jurisdictions throughout the country on behalf of celebrity brand owners, establishment operators, institutional investors and other equity owners, as well as their respective executives and other affiliated individual qualifiers (both inside and outside the entertainment industry). Specific matters have included representing an array of private equity funds, hedge funds, mutual funds, charitable funds and other “passive” investors, as well as high-profile individuals and trademark owners, in connection with gaming licensure and alcoholic beverage licensure, including assisting with preparing applications, interview preparation, responding to investigation inquiries, liaising with regulators, and developing licensing strategy.     
  • Represented various entertainment companies, celebrity brand owners, acquiring companies and lenders in connection with copyright- and entertainment-related aspects of mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, joint ventures and lending transactions, including due diligence and the navigation of unique issues specific to the entertainment industry.
  • Advised and provides strategic counseling to clients operating in the digital media space regarding copyright issues, rights of publicity and other intellectual property issues associated with new business models, including cutting-edge legal developments, complex rights licensing issues, negotiation strategy, legal exposure and risk avoidance.
  • Negotiated sponsorship agreements, endorsement agreements, co-marketing agreements and other agreements related to a wide array of arrangements between brand owners, entertainment content rightsowners and celebrities.
  • Advise and counsel celebrities and other public figures regarding issues related to the exploitation, protection, infringement and monetization of their name, image, voice and likenesses.
