Hiba’s practice involves complex commercial litigation in state and federal court, as well as in arbitration. She has a wide breadth of experience in pre-trial, trial, and appellate work for clients across various industries. Hiba’s multidisciplinary litigation practice ranges across: oil & gas exploration and production matters for large and small clients, securities and employment issues for financial institutions, products liability, real estate disputes, shareholder disputes, professional license disciplinary proceedings, and insurance defense matters. Hiba’s broad experience allows her to position her clients to pursue their business strategies.

Prior to joining the firm, Hiba was an associate at a Texas-based law firm, where she litigated general business law matters and represented clients in investigations and administrative proceedings.

Experience

  • Represented oil and gas client in underpayment of royalty case alleging breaches of purchase and sale agreement and breach of prudent operator duty related to oil field located in Louisiana. Resulted in outcome favorable to the client.
  • Represented shareholder in pre-litigation divestiture of oil and gas company shares to settle corporate governance disputes. Resulted in outcome favorable to the client.
  • Obtained summary judgment on petition for bill of review vacating default judgment entered without service.
  • Obtained dismissal as a matter of law of claims arising under the Dodd-Frank Act’s whistleblower protections for financial institution client.
  • Obtained summary judgment and award of fees in direct action against shareholder for creating cloud on title of corporate property.
  • Represented broker-dealer clients in multiple Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) arbitrations involving employment law and alleged breaches of duties to customers.
  • Represented client in case arising from allegedly defective crude oil product filed against intermediate seller client. Resulted in outcome favorable to the client.°
  • Represented client in seeking contractual indemnification for personal injury suit against sub-contractor. Resulted in outcome favorable to the client.°
