Calif. Judge Transfers Teva Painkiller Suits To Kentucky

A California judge granted Teva Pharmaceuticals’ request to move six lawsuits alleging injuries from their pain medication propoxyphene to a Kentucky federal court, saying “the interests of justice tilt in favor” of the transfer since the district court’s home to numerous similar cases.

The ruling on the mass action by U.S. District Judge Jon S. Tigar on Thursday follows in the wake of a June decision by another California federal court to transfer 26 additional propoxyphene cases to an Eastern District of Kentucky court that handled similar suits in multidistrict litigation.
