Billboard Recognizes 3 Greenberg Traurig Entertainment Attorneys

ATLANTA - July 24, 2015 – Three entertainment attorneys from the international law firm of Greenberg Traurig, LLP were recently recognized in Billboard magazine as leaders in their industry. Joel A. Katz, chair of the Global Media & Entertainment Practice, and Bobby Rosenbloum, co-chair of the Entertainment & Media Practice, were recognized on Billboard’s “Music’s Most Powerful Attorneys” list. Additionally, in Billboard’s first-ever “Top 50 Nashville Players,” both Katz and Jess Rosen, co-chair of Atlanta’s Entertainment & Media Practice, were ranked among the top 20 as the only law firm listed as well as “the most powerful legal team in Nashville.”

According to Billboard, the “Music’s Most Powerful Attorneys” list highlights prominent lawyers on their ability to tackle disputes over streaming rights, and the misuse of copyrights.  The “Top 50 Nashville Players” rankings were determined by business impact, market share, chart or touring performance, and local influence over the last 12 months.

Katz, who is former chairman of the American Bar Association's Entertainment & Sports Law Section, is widely recognized as a leader in the field of entertainment law. His clients include some of the world's most well-known entertainers, music producers, record companies, concert promoters, and Fortune 500 companies. More than 30 years ago, he founded Katz, Smith & Cohen, which became one of the United States’ largest music entertainment law firms. In 1998, Katz joined his practice with Greenberg Traurig.

Rosen is co-chair of Greenberg Traurig’s Atlanta Entertainment and Media Practice. He focuses his practice on talent representation, including all facets of transactional entertainment matters in the music, film, television and new media industries. Rosen represents, advises and counsels numerous songwriters, producers, recording artists, actors, writers and executives in all aspects of their entertainment careers. He has also helped advise his clients with respect to all aspects of new business models for a changing industry. Rosenbloum advises clients with respect to all aspects of new media business models, including negotiation strategy, legal exposure and risk avoidance, as well as comprehensive strategic counseling and consulting.
