ATLANTA – June 18, 2019 – Ted Blum, managing shareholder of the Atlanta office of global law firm Greenberg Traurig, LLP, received the 2018-2019 Ivan Allen Club Service Award from the Rotary Club of Atlanta at the organization’s June 17 meeting.
The Ivan Allen Award is named for former Atlanta Mayor Ivan Allen Jr. and recognizes the member performing the most outstanding club service during the past year.
Blum has taken on the fight against human trafficking as a personal project, leading several initiatives in the Atlanta community. He serves as chair of the Rotary Club of Atlanta’s Anti-Human Trafficking Task Force, which works to stop the human trafficking crisis in Atlanta, collaborating with major companies to accelerate programs already in place and create a forum to share ideas and collaborate to drive change.
As an expansion of Blum’s commitment to fight human trafficking, the Atlanta office of Greenberg Traurig has also taken on the cause by partnering with Wellspring Living, a non-profit organization that offers community-based programs to young girls and women who are survivors of sexual abuse, trafficking, and exploitation.
“When I first learned about the crisis of human trafficking in Atlanta, I was overwhelmed by the severity of the situation and motivated to do something to create change,” Blum said. “By galvanizing the support from others at my firm, together we decided we could have the most impact by focusing on helping to support the individual survivors of sexual exploitation.”
In partnership with Wellspring Living Women’s Academy, the firm hosts seminars on a variety of career-readiness topics over a 10-week session. Additionally, the firm welcomes two participants of the Women’s Academy to join the firm for 12 weeks as apprentices, during which time they learn additional professional skills in a business environment.
