Greenberg Traurig’s Miguel Flores Bernés Appointed Chair of the Competition Commission of the International Chamber of Commerce - Mexico Chapter

MEXICO CITY – Sept. 26, 2019 – Miguel Flores Bernés, a shareholder in the Antitrust Litigation & Competition Regulation Practice of global law firm Greenberg Traurig, LLP, has been named chair of the Competition Commission of the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC)-Mexico Chapter.

The ICC is a world business organization helping businesses of all sizes and in all countries to operate both internationally and responsibly, according to its website. With a global network of over six million members in more than 100 countries, the ICC works to promote international trade, responsible business conduct, and provide a global approach to regulation through a unique mix of advocacy and standard setting activities, along with market leading dispute resolution services.

“I am honored to be able to further collaborate with competition experts, in-house lawyers, and specialized economists in expanding the discussion of antitrust and competition matters in Mexico,” Flores Bernés said. “Fines for antitrust violations in Mexico are substantial, and carry the risk of reputational damage to companies. We look forward to the continued support of companies doing business in Mexico that are developing adequate compliance programs and strengthening dialogue with public and private stakeholders.”

Based in the firm’s Mexico City office, Flores Bernés focuses his practice on antitrust and competition issues affecting clients in various industries, including government merger review, investigations of alleged anticompetitive conduct, litigation, and counseling. He regularly represents clients before the two Mexican competition authorities: Comision Federal de Competencia Economica (COFECE) and Instituto Federal de las Telecomunicaciones (IFT). As part of his previous experience, Flores Bernés served as a commissioner in the Federal Competition Commission.
