Greenberg Traurig Represents MessageBird in its $200 Million Series C Fundraising Round

AMSTERDAM – October 9, 2020 – The Amsterdam office of global law firm Greenberg Traurig, LLP represented MessageBird Holding B.V. in its $200 million Series C fundraising round led by Silicon Valley’s Spark Capital. The new investment gives 2011-founded MessageBird a $3 billion valuation, and includes participations from Bonnier, Glynn Capital, LGT Lightstone, Longbow, Mousse Partners, New View Capital, and existing investors Accel, Atomico, and Y Combinator.

“This has clearly been an outstanding achievement by the MessageBird team. In a complex international setting which required back-to-back negotiations with current shareholders and new investors across the globe, the successful closing of MessageBird’s Series C is a testament to the seamless 24/7 cooperation among the GT Amsterdam team acting as lead counsel, Fenwick & West in the US, the Loyens & Loeff notarial team and the MessageBird deal team,” said Laurens Timmer, who led Greenberg Traurig’s team from the Amsterdam office.

The Greenberg Traurig team representing MessageBird consisted of lead associate Laurens Timmer (Corporate/M&A), shareholders Bas Vletter (Corporate/M&A) and Herald Jongen (Corporate/M&A), local partner Linda Thonen (Notarial), and associate Maquina Lamé (Notarial). MessageBird was further supported by US counsel Fenwick & West and the notarial team of Loyens & Loeff.
