Joseph H. Picone represents financial institutions, large businesses, and health care providers in civil litigation at the trial and appellate level in both state and federal court. Joseph handles a broad range of matters involving a variety of federal and state statutes in complex commercial disputes and contractual matters.

  • Representing multinational financial services companies and mortgage loan services in dozens of appellate matters before Florida’s District Courts of Appeal and the Florida Supreme Court.
  • Representing a pharmacy in an qui tam matter involving alleged violations of the False Claims Act and Anti-Kickback Statute.
  • Representing an international exporter in an action for damages of more than $75 million arising out of its shipment of refrigerants and related products.
  • Representing a national retailer in a matter involving claims of breach of a commercial lease agreement.
  • Represented an investment advisor and its managing member in an enforcement matter brought by the Securities and Exchange Commission involving allegations of fraud and misappropriation of investors’ funds.
  • Representing a Fortune 500 insurance company in dozens of matters involving disputes over coverage and for breach of contract in all aspects of civil litigation, including taking several depositions and arguing dozens of substantive hearings.
  • Represented a multinational investment bank in an action regarding a breach of a multi-million-dollar commercial lease and alleged property damages arising from an environmental matter on the leased property.
  • Served on the litigation team that successfully prosecuted claims for damages on behalf of a South Korean company against a Florida-based international importer concerning the importer’s failure to secure and deliver 40,000 tons of petroleum coke from a Russian supplier.
  • Represented a telemedicine company and a durable medical equipment manufacturer in government investigations involving alleged violations of the False Claims Act and Anti-Kickback Statute.°
  • Served on the appellate team representing an individual convicted of wire fraud in her appeal of her conviction and sentence before the United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit.°
