Greenberg Traurig’s Chicago Office Recognized as the 2014 Pro Bono Office of the Year

CHICAGO – Oct. 23, 2014 –The international law firm Greenberg Traurig, LLP recently named the Chicago office as their 2014 Pro Bono Office of the Year. Co-chair of the Chicago Litigation Practice Gregory Ostfeld and shareholder Gretchen Miller currently lead the pro bono initiative for the office.

“Many Chicago attorneys embodied the true spirit of providing legal services to the underserved over the past year. Congratulations to the entire Chicago office for their hard work and dedication to our pro bono program,” said Hilarie Bass, co-president of Greenberg Traurig.

Recently, the Chicago office also received the Seventh Circuit Bar Association’s 2014 Pro Bono & Public Interest Service Award, which recognized a team of Greenberg Traurig attorneys for its outstanding pro bono work in the U.S. Bankruptcy Courts of Illinois and the team’s efforts on behalf of its client in the case of Best Buy Carpet v. Steven Boucher.

Some pro bono matters Chicago attorneys handled this year included representation of the American Jewish Committee, Led Zepplin II and the Better Government Association.

Greenberg Traurig lawyers across the firm provide pro bono legal services to the indigent and working poor, as well as to numerous civic and charitable organizations dedicated to assisting them. The firm has ongoing partnerships with the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence, Her Justice, Lawyers for the Creative Arts, Children and Family Justice Center, Just Neighbors Immigrant Ministry, Center for Community Change, University of Miami School of Law’s Children and Youth Law Clinic, Legal Counsel for the Elderly, D.C. Employment Justice Center, ABA Death Penalty Representation Project and the Archdiocesan Legal Network, among others.
